Small works and repairs

Not every job is a big one. A dripping tap, a loose tile or a door that won't close deserves care too. We carry out small works and repairs with the same attention we give a full renovation.

Small works and repairs that prevent bigger problems

A small repair done in time often saves a big job later. Worn sealant around a shower tray lets water through to the floor and the ceiling of the flat below. A cistern that keeps running wastes water every day. A dripping tap seems minor, but it adds up by the end of the month.

With cracks, it's worth telling them apart. Fine cracks in the paint or plaster are common and easy to repair. Wide cracks, ones that are growing, or ones running diagonally from the corners of doors and windows should be looked at by a professional before they're filled.

Other signs are worth watching for too: doors that start catching on the floor, tiles that sound hollow when tapped, sealant with dark mould, a stain that keeps growing on the ceiling. Dealt with in time, almost all of them can be fixed with a small job.

How to prepare your repair request

Make a list of everything that needs fixing, room by room. Grouping several jobs into one visit is more practical and usually worth it. For each problem:

  • Take photos from close up and from further back.
  • Note the make or model of taps and cisterns, if you know it.
  • Say whether you have spare parts at home, such as tiles left over from earlier work.
  • Mark what's most urgent.

With this information, we can bring the right materials and get more done in a single trip.

What affects the price

For small works, the price depends on the number of jobs, the parts and materials, access, and whether a wall needs opening up. Changing a tap is very different from fixing a leak inside a wall. With photos and a good description, we can give you a more accurate idea before the visit.

When we finish, we leave the space tidy and clean. A good repair shows in the details: straight grout lines, clean sealant, walls without marks.

Frequently asked questions

Do you take on small jobs, like changing a tap?

Yes. Small jobs deserve care too. If there are other repairs around the home, it's worth grouping them into the same visit.

Is a crack in the wall serious?

In most cases, no: fine cracks in the paint or plaster are common. If a crack is wide, getting bigger or running diagonally near doors and windows, it should be assessed before it's repaired.

How can a broken tile be replaced if the same one isn't made any more?

First, check whether any tiles were kept from the original job. If not, a similar tile can be chosen or a decorative detail created. That's why it's always worth keeping a few spare tiles after any work.

How much does a small repair cost?

It depends on the job, the materials and the travel involved. For an accurate quote, send us photos and a description. Grouping several repairs into one visit usually makes each one more economical.

Can a leak be fixed without breaking tiles?

Sometimes, if it's at a visible joint, a trap or a tap. If the leak is inside the wall, it usually has to be opened at the right spot and closed up again. The aim is always to open up as little as possible.
